In his research, Fekkes focuses on the development of social skills and resilience in children and the effectiveness of interventions that try to strengthen these skills. He pays special attention to bullying in children and the effectiveness of anti-bullying interventions.

As professor by special appointment, Fekkes will focus on the effectiveness of the various elements that make up the aforementioned interventions. His research will also focus on the question of which children certain interventions work well or less well for. In addition, he will be looking at the ways in which effective interventions can be embedded in practice, including in schools and youth (health)care settings.

About Minne Fekkes

Minne Fekkes has been working at the TNO since 1995, and since 2016 has been a senior researcher with TNO Child Health. He obtained his doctorate from Leiden University in 2005 on the effects of anti-bullying policies in primary schools.

Fekkes is a project leader for the ‘Consortium Social Skills and Resilience’ (Consortium Sociale vaardigheden en Weerbaarheid), a partnership between four universities and a large number of practical organisations. He publishes extensively on bullying and social skills and is a contributor to the book ‘Bullying at school: Backgrounds and interventions’ (Pesten op School. Achtergronden en interventies) (Amsterdam, Boom Publishers, 2015).
