In total there are seven Dutch universities in the top 100. The UvA is the second highest ranked Dutch university this year, with only Wageningen University & Research (59^th) placing higher. The top three listed institutions are University of Oxford, California Institute of Technology and University of Cambridge.

Methodology

The Times Higher Education Rankings are based on 13 performance indicators distributed over five categories: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry income (2.5%). As in 2018, the UvA this year recorded its highest scores in citations and international outlook.

In addition to the World University Rankings, Times Higher Education also publishes the Europe Teaching Rankings every year. In the most recent edition, published at the beginning of July 2019, the UvA is in 20^th place.
