Recap of the AUV Day 2021
Saturday 6 November 2021 the AUV Day took place, the annual members' day of the Amsterdam University Association (Amsterdamse Universiteits-Vereniging). The program included a lecture by writer and actor Ramsey Nasr about his book De Fundamenten. Whereby journalist Sheila Sitalsing acted as moderator. In addition, the AUV alumnus prize was presented. The AUV day took place at De Industrieele Groote Club.
AUV alumnus prize: an award for a dedicated alumnus
During the AUV day, the AUV alumnus prize was awarded. The AUV alumnus prize is an incentive prize for UvA alumni who make society a better place by working on an appealing project. The winner is an inspiration for many and a promise for the future. In 2021 Karijn Helsloot won the AUV alumnus prize with her foundation Taal naar Keuze.

How do we get out of the crisis?
Writer and actor Ramsey Nasr spoke about his book De Fundamenten in his lecture. In his book he poses the question: how do we get out of the crisis? This social issue was at the heart of his lecture. He made the audience think. During the lecture journalist Sheila Sitalsing acted as moderator.
Ramsey Nasr is a poet, writer, actor and director. He was Dichter des Vaderlands (Poet Laureate) between 2009 and 2013. In his new book De Fundamenten he takes stock of a country during the coronation crisis.
Sheila Sitalsing is a journalist and worked successively for Rotterdams Dagblad, Elsevier and de Volkskrant. Nowadays she is a freelance journalist. She writes columns for de Volkskrant on politics and economics.
