Gary Kavanagh Trio met Ben Schröder

Vandaag speelt het Gary Kavanagh Trio in de club, aangevuld met drummer Ben Schröder.

De band bestaat uit:

  • Gary Kavanagh (trompet)
  • Dan Nicholas (gitaar)
  • Steve Zwanink (contrabas)
  • Ben Schröder (drums).

The Gary Kavanagh Trio

Stellar trumpeter Gary Kavanagh originally from Jersey ( Channel Islands ) has been steadily turning heads in recent years since his return to Holland in 2013. He plays in the grand lyrical tradition of Art Farmer, Kenny Dorham and Clifford Brown, but his playing is masterfully his own, and is not to be missed.

Guitarist, composer, arranger and lyricist Dan Nicholas is the musical director of
Equinox. He grew up in New York City and New Jersey, and at the age of 18 he
began to study with the world renowned jazz pianist and educator, Dr. Barry
Harris. Nicholas was inspired to move to The Netherlands in 2001 after meeting master pianist Frans Elsen, with whom he worked from 2008 – 2011.

Bassist Steve Zwanink hails from Vancouver Canada. He is highly in demand for his propulsive swing, powerful sound, and exceptional creativity and flexibility. He works regularly in the Peter Beets Trio, and has performed with virtually every major jazz musician in the Netherlands, as well as in trio with the legendary
pianist Harold Maburn and drummer Joe Farnsworth.
