Dr F.G. Dikkers (b. 1957) has been appointed professor of General Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Medicine (AMC-UvA).

Frederik Dikkers is a specialist in the field of laryngology and focuses on benign voice disorders and adult and paediatric airway pathology. His area of work also covers ear, nose and throat disorders in addition to speech-language pathology.

As professor, Dikkers will further consolidate clinical research, mainly rhinological research, and expand his own line of research in the field of laryngology. As head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the Academic Medical Center (AMC), he will manage the hospital clinic, the outpatients' clinic and the audiology center.

Dikkers has been an otorhinolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat physician) and staff member of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) since 1988. He worked as education coordinator for Otorhinolaryngology at the UMCG for many years and as internship coordinator at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen, where he was associate professor. He is the chair of the UMCG Expertise Center Groningen Papilloma Studies. In addition, Dikkers is a visiting professor attached to the University of Belgrade in Serbia. He has been a member of the Presidential Council of the European Laryngological Society (ELS) since 2008, where he fulfilled the role of General Secretary until 2016.
