Prof. M. Rosello has been appointed professor of General Literary Studies at the Faculty of Humanities as of 1 January 2006.

Prof. M. Rosello (b. 1957) has been appointed professor of General Literary Studies at the Faculty of Humanities of the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) as of 1 January 2006.

Mireille Rosello’s research interests are on comparative and interdisciplinary research on literary and textual stories (literature of the twentieth and the twenty-first century, popular culture, film, television and new media). She focuses on diaspora, colonialism and postcolonialism in French-speaking areas, particularly in Europe, Maghrib and the Caribbean, as well as gender and sexuality. Rosello recently published France and the Maghreb: Performative Encounters. In education Rosello is responsible for the coordination of the research master’s programme Cultural Analysis. During the course of the academic year the gives lectures in the courses Literatuur in de actualiteit (Literature in current events) and Literature and Spatiality.

Rosello was attached to the Northwestern University in the United States since 1998 as professor of French literature and comparative literary studies since 1998. She previously worked at among other places the University of Nottingham (UK) and the University of Michigan (US).
