Preventing stent thrombosis after angioplasty

14Sept2017 14:00 - 15:00

PhD defence ceremony

Percutaneous coronary intervention technology is used to treat coronary artery disease and has evolved from the balloon angioplasty to the use of drug eluting stents (DES). Although effective in terms of reducing in-stent rhenosis, the first-generation DES was also associated with the risk of late and very late stent thrombosis. Pannipa Suwannasom carries out research into an alternative bioresorbable technology that leaves no foreign material behind that could potentially trigger the thrombosis.
