Flowering regulation in plants

Life Sciences

PhD defence ceremony

One important factor that regulates flowering in plants is the relative length of day and night time hours. Leaves play an important role in this process by perceiving the light changes and producing photosynthates that participate in floral signalling. Stefania del Prete investigates the morphological, molecular and transcriptional events underlying the changes that take place in leaves during the transition that leads to a plant’s flowering.
